First
National Bank of Clinton's History
First
National Bank of Clinton was chartered
December 7th, 1945 by a group of local
citizens who felt that a bank in town with a
national charter was important. In those

difficult, if not impossible,
accomplishment. Local businessman, M.K.
Chapman, reports that he personally visited
with President Harry Truman to obtain the
national bank charter. Many mergers and
acquisitions have happened over the years, but
First National Bank of Clinton proudly remains
the only independently owned and managed bank
in Clinton with the same name since being
chartered.
